About Danielle

Danielle Rees is a serial entrepreneur and investor passionate about helping underserved entrepreneurs grow their companies. The daughter of a tech entrepreneur, she grew up in Silicon Valley and her first job was selling concessions for a small women-owned business. After graduating with a BA from Stanford and a Master in Public Health from UC Berkeley she started working in Reno in 2004 and spent the next 15 years growing nonprofit organizations in health care and the sports industry. Based on her passion for the mountain lifestyle, she co-founded 2 product goods companies- a ski manufacturing company and a sports bra company.

Her experience as a female founder deepened her understanding of the challenges entrepreneurs face in getting access to resources to launch and grow their companies. As a result she launched Audacity Institute in 2018 to provide funding, education and support to underserved business owners. Over the last 2 years, Audacity has invested $2.5M directly into Nevada small businesses through the City of Reno women and minority-owned business relief fund and the Rural Business Assistance program. When she's not supporting local businesses in midtown Reno where she lives with my husband and rat terrier, you can find her mountain biking and skiing in Tahoe.

My Top 3 Values as a Business Owner:

As a business owner I bring my 3 archetypes of alchemist, rebel, and helper.
1. As an Alchemist, I champion the personal transformation of the entrepreneurs I work with by focusing on a holistic approach of head and heart.

2. As a Rebel I fight to end the injustices I see in the world. I advocate for underserved entrepreneurs to get the funding, training, and support they need to thrive.

3. As the Helper I bring compassion and coach my entrepreneurs to practice self-love and refill their cup.

How do participants benefit from having you as their SBA T.H.R.I.V.E. Coach?

At Audacity Institute, we provide a balanced approach to business training that includes coaching under the name of Founder Doctor. In comparison to the hierarchical structure of traditional mentorship, we listen deeply to our entrepreneurs and reflect back their intuition for how they want to grow their company. We have a balanced approach to business training and support. We focus on both the head and the heart as the heart is where innovation comes from. Feedback from coaching CEOs of high growth startups and women and minority owned businesses that this approach has been transformational for their leadership development and for company growth.

My Experience in Coaching & Mentoring Entrepreneurs

I have worked with CEOS of high growth tech companies and main street businesses. I am actively mentoring 2 startup CEOs and coaching a dozen CEOs of main street businesses. Over the past 8 months I have been coaching entrepreneurs in the rural business assistance program. I meet with them for 90 minutes once a month for our one on one sessions. I provide accountability toward their growth goals, answer questions regarding the monthly business training topics, and individualized support on their entrepreneurial journey.
