About George Mui

George Mui is a global strategist. He develops strategies for corporations, small businesses, government agencies and non-government organizations with a keen focus on domestic and international partnerships and collaboration. His area of focus is the Asia market. Leveraging his extensive global experience, George also serves on the Advisory boards for companies and organizations with international trade focus. Global Consultants United is an International Business Consulting Group that provides world-class solutions with a team of collaborating partners.

George has recently retired from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) after ten plus years of public services. He initiated the Global Market Access programs for gaining access to the global markets by leveraging the Diaspora Business Community with special focus on the Asia Market. This approach has also been adapted into the U.S. National Export Strategy. His innovative programs earned George two MBDA National Director Awards in 2010 and 2017.

George served as the Senior Advisor for The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (WHIAAPI) from 2014 – 2016 where he served as the business liaison for AAPI businesses for both WHIAAPI and MBDA. He was responsible for the Business and Economic Development portfolio providing access to federal resources in this area. The Commerce Secretary appointed him to serve on the WHIAAPI Interagency Inter-governmental Working group 2017-2019. He initiated five major programs that are still active today: Doing Business in Asia, New American Business Boot Camp, AAPI Construction Advocacy program, National AAPI Business Summit, and National AAPI Leadership Summit. He also initiated and led three minority business delegations to China in 2010, 2012 and 2016 and successfully organized the Presidential SME delegation to the Philippines during the APEC leadership Summit in 2015.

Prior to joining Federal Government Services, George served as the SBA Small Business Development Center Director in Chicago Chinatown for 2 years. George was the managing partner for New World Connections, an international management consulting firm for 5 years. George has also a successful 20-year career in the private sector as R&D and Business Management Director at AT&T Bell Labs and Lucent Technologies where he started as software engineer and ended up managing a $400 million dollars data networking business unit.

He is currently serving on the board in Chicago, an advocate for non-profit organizations in the Midwest. George also serves as an Advisory board member for SAUPO focusing on International Trade with Asia at Kennesaw State University in Georgia. He served on the IIT Alumni Board for 7 years and the Chair for the International Committee for the last 2 years. He is the founder and current moderator for the Asian American Executive Network, a global networking forum for Asian American Executives.

George has a master’s and bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences from The Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago, IL. He also completed two Executive Education programs at Stanford University in Marketing and Business Management. George is married with two children.
